Tiny personal projects that I embark on... |

I took a long walk in the woods when I was in Findhorn, Scotland. Lots of thoughts and ideas ran through my head and so, on a whim, I decided to document my hike and perhaps narrate something through visuals. I wrote a really simple song in open D tuning (D A D F# A D) to go along with it. Thanks again DeerRidge Guitars for the lovely OM guitar.
This was shot using a cheap Samsung phone and it doesn't do the place justice.
Dedicated to my father.

A short time-lapse video of sunrise in Taipei, Taiwan. I recorded an acoustic guitar, mucked around with the eq and tried some over the top reverb plug in. Do listen to it on headphones/earphones for better effect.
Mist in the mountains of Houtong cat village, Taiwan.
Take a moment to admire the beauty that's all around.
Can a simple chord tell a story? I asked myself that question.
A chapter in Ryan Holiday's The Daily Stoic got me thinking..
"There is clarity (and joy) in seeing what others can't see, in finding grace and harmony in places others overlook. Isn't it far better than seeing the world as some dark place?

Collection of time lapse clips I stitched together, accompanied by my performance of "Baroque" by the great Joe Satriani.
A cover of a lesser known but beautiful song by Joe Satriani. From his 1993 album "Time Machine".
Beautiful formation of cumulonimbus clouds over Taipei city. I composed a short tune to accompany the visuals and added in some of Bruce Lee's quotes for the fun of it. At this point, I have been listening to quite a fair amount of Philip Glass's album "Glassworks" and also quite a bit of Steve Reich.
A time_lapse video of the sky from the balcony of a beloved restaurant in Taipei, Grandma Nitti's. The restaurant is very popular amongst the locals and sadly, today 25/10/2017 will be their last day of operations, having been around for over 20 years!
I composed a short piano piece to accompany the video and threw in one of my favourite quotes by Carl Sagan to make me appear smarter than I really am. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks for the awesome food Grandma Nitti.

My second collaboration with the amazing artist, Reham Ali from Egypt. The music in the background was a tune I composed years ago for a good friend's son, Forrest. The poor boy had problems sleeping when he was just a few months old, and so, I composed a lullaby for him, with hopes of helping him (and my friend) get some sleep. I had the melody in my head for many years, I just never got down to working out the parts and recording it....until now. Forrest is a big boy now and I doubt he'll need this lullaby anymore. Anyway, here it is together with Reham's artwork.
"Mornings are for coffee and contemplation" - Chief Jim Hopper (Stranger Things) I have always liked Edgar Wright's style of editing and I love my coffee, and so, this had to happen.
My collaboration with artist, Reham Ali from Egypt! Here she's adding the finishing touches to an old door of a Christian cemetery in Cairo. I tried to compose something that hopefully, added to the narrative.

I chanced upon a short video posted by artist, Mark Poulier on instagram. The images I saw moved me and I felt compelled to contact him because I heard something in my head and I wanted to compose something on top of his video. And so I sent him a message on instagram and he actually replied! Mark was kind and generous enough to send me the video and gave me free reign over it. So, here it is... hope you'll enjoy this short little clip. Do check out Mark's amazing artwork at https://www.instagram.com/markpoulierart/
A short instrumental cover of a beautiful song by Julien Baker.
This uncle is the 3rd generation owner of Lung Ann Kopitiam (Coffee shop) in Malacca. I had a quick chat with him and he was kind enough and allowed me to film him slicing up bread and brewing coffee or kopi as we call it in Singapore and Malaysia. He talked about (off camera) how youngsters prefer hipster cafes and how there's no one to take over him once he retires. I can't help but feel a little sad knowing that there will most likely be no 4th generation taking over this little coffee shop that's been here since the 1930s.
This is the first of a year long collaborative effort to create art with Instagram artists from all over the world. Starting from an empty piece of paper, the video takes the viewer on a journey through the creative process of an extremely talented artist @jlron The concept is pretty straight forward, the artist capture his or her process through time-lapse photography, they send me the video and I compose original music to it: whatever the images inspires. Do check out Jlron's awesome artwork on his instagram page.

Inspired by 2014's film, Interstellar. I composed music to accompany a time lapse video I took, of clouds racing across the sky just before sunrise. For added dramatic effect, I lifted dialogue from the film and added it into the music
Stranger Things - I recreated the electronic theme with an acoustic guitar that's heavily manipulated in post.
Time lapse photography of a beautiful sunrise. Experimented with some electric guitar tones/effects and played along to the visuals.
I was in Germany to attend a wedding, spent nearly a month there and took quite a bit
of time lapse videos. I stitched a couple of them together and added a piano piece
"Pensive" I composed recently to accompany the visuals.

Been practicing a very complex yet interesting piece of music by Pino Forastiere. It's a study of polyrhythms. This is the main motif, both hands are doing very different things at the same time. The piece was inspired by the sounds and the noises of New York, arranged in a counterpoint of rhythmical pulses. Here is a short excerpt of it. I hope to get a hang of it in the next two months (hopefully) and shoot a video of the full performance.
A short performance of a song by Acoustic Alchemy, Ballad for Kay.
I shot this using my mobile phone a few weeks back and extended the 30 seconds tune I composed for the Adam Audio Competition. I am starting to really fall in love with capturing time lapse videos.. there is so much beauty that slips us by. Every time I play back this video, I see new things. Hope you enjoy watching this as much as I do!

What an indescribable high, to hear a score you mocked up at home come alive!
